Introduced and intended for those occupations in 2005, the CRO card has covered more than 400 occupations with over 300,000 CRO cards that have been issued. According to the Green labourer card, the Construction Related Occupation (CRO) card that have grown significantly in July 2014. Because employers do not required the qualifications, they just require that candidates pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test to obtain a card, thus, the CRO cards are being applied a lot now. However, The CRO card is no longer fit for purpose, the CSCS card scheme has consulted with industry to determine the best way to address this issue. Comprehensively, there are some changes of the CRO card in next month (1st October,2015) that new measures will be introduced which will pave the way for the eventual withdrawal of the CRO card to fit for main purpose while working in construction site.
From 1st October 2015, all CRO cards (included the CRO cards have issued before 1st October 2015), which will expire on 30 September 2017 and they are not renewable. Thus, before the card expire date, workers will have to register for a nationally recognised construction related qualification. And your CRO card will only apply for one occupation, after 30 September 2017, CSCS will stop issuing the CRO cards. You will be checked by the CSCS about your occupation to confirm your qualification if you are wanting to apply for a CRO card, thus, to become a CRO cardholders that you will be required qualification for your occupation with the appropriate skilled card. When you do not register for the construction related qualification that you cannot renew your card from 30 September 2017 and from 31 September 2017, you cannot obtain any cards. One top of that, if you register for the appropriate qualification before the CRO card expires that you will be able to apply for a skilled CSCS card for your occupation. Especially, you just use your card for only one occupation, if you are holding currently a multi – occupation card that you must notify CSCS to choose occupation that you want to display.
In order to ensure that all workers who have enough eligibility, qualification and experience skills and they apply for the correct card in order to reduce the number of accident on UK construction site, these new measures is the best policy to help employers and workers. Sorry to say some of these are wrong, cut yourself on site and most require that you find a first aider and then get it reported. Ladder not long enough go find another sorry again you find the supervisor and sort it out with him. If these are official answers then somebody needs to look at them again.
